Our practice has grown principally by word of mouth and we are delighted to welcome new patients referred by our current patients.
FOUR LEVELS OF DENTAL CARE
We understand that choosing a new dentist and dental health team can be a challenge, leaving you feeling somewhat uncertain. Our goal is to help you become as healthy as you chose to be. Your first decision in this regard is how you would like to begin your relationship with us. There are four levels on which people may choose treatment in our practice.
LEVEL 1
Urgent care: People with emergency problems that are causing pain, swelling or bleeding often need immediate help. We see emergencies immediately, whenever possible and build time into our schedule to efficiently deal with your unexpected problems. We also maintain an out-of-hours emergency service.
LEVEL 2
Remedial care: Patients who choose this level of care desire treatment only when something breaks or becomes uncomfortable. Generally, patients at this level prefer short-term cursory-type examinations, screening for more obvious advanced problems. They usually want to correct immediate problems with as little effort as possible, even though the treatment may not be a long-term solution. Patients at this level are not yet ready for either thorough or preventive treatment. Their motto might be “Let’s just take care of what is wrong today and not worry about tomorrow.” These people may be counting on fate or luck to see them through, at least for the present.
LEVEL 3
Self-care: Level three patients are interested in what they can do personally to improve their dental health and arrest any active disease processes, but choose repair solutions that are more short-range in duration. They undergo a comprehensive examination, fully evaluating teeth, gums and supporting tissue. During this process we formulate a long-term plan for their preferred dental future. However, due to current life circumstances or beliefs, they will follow a holding plan until they can proceed to a higher level. Rather than commence major treatment, they are monitored through frequent preventive maintenance visits with our hygienists.
LEVEL 4
Complete dentistry: Patients at this level are similar to the people at level 3. They choose to have comprehensive examinations and master planning and formulate a long-term treatment plan for health and repair to achieve a future based on choice not chance. Unlike the maintenance care patient, these patients want all treatment to be completed in the most lasting fashion possible. They are happy to take an active role in their achievement of optimal oral health, interfacing closely with our staff before, during and after treatment. These patients are very concerned about treating the causes of dental disease and not simply the effects. They want all treatment provided to be completed in the most lasting fashion possibleThese are broad categories and we hope they make sense to you. It is not uncommon for people to begin at one level and progress to a higher level over time.
