What is a dental implant?
An implant is a piece of titanium that is put into the jaw where the missing tooth was.
A crown is then fixed onto it.
It looks and feels just like a tooth.
How long do implants take?
It is carried out in two stages.
The first stage is having the implant placed. This is an oral surgical procedure.
The implant is then left to join to the bone which takes 3-4 months, depending on where it is in the mouth. |

What
happens after a tooth is replaced with an
implant?
Once he implant has joined in to the surrounding
natural tissues we can move on to the second stage
which is having the
dental crown fixed to the implant.
The implant crown can be made from a variety of
materials and could have a metal base, often gold,
or a zirconia base. Zirconia is the material used in
hip replacements and is the strongest form of metal
free implant crown on the market today.

implants do we use?

Watford, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Kings
Langley areas, plus further afield around

past.
Dental implants are now a common treatment option
for this Watford dental practice.
What is the
cost of dental implants?
Many dental implant dentists don't put the cost
of dental implants on their website, this is because
the true implants cost is actually difficult to work
out and provide accurate costings. Our implants
start from a cost of £1,950, however if you need
extensive surgery this price of implants may rise.
However, this cost, when spread over your life
time, reduces considerably. Dental implants are
often the most cost effective treatment as
alternative treatments for missing teeth may mean
that surrounding teeth are crowned to support the
fake tooth in the gap.
This adds cost, plus it increases the likely hood
of having to treat these teeth again in the future.
Dental implants save the surrounding teeth
meaning future treatment for them is less likely
(assuming they are healthy to start off with) so all
things considered implants are often the
most cost effective option for most patients
over their life time.
